Welcome to the latest and greatest HyperStudio <-> Internet connection! Roger Wagner Publishing has released a plug-in for use with Netscape and Internet Explorer. Here's the place for you to find out more about the concept of using HyperStudio with the Internet - a process that I affectionately call HyperInternet!
To start, download the appropriate plug-in for Netscape here:
Windows version There are versions for both Windows 3.1 and Windows '95 now! You might also want to download the freeware version of StuffIt for Windows which does a great job of unpacking all types of files!
Next, take a look at some sample pages that include HyperStudio stacks. This "whale page" is an example of a student project that includes a variety of Internet links that the author found related to her topic PLUS a HyperStudio stack that uses Speech Manager on the Macintosh to generate an interactive quiz! This alternate whale page can be viewed by both Windows and Macintosh computers.
This second sample was put together for the Learning in the Fast Lane 2 Conference in Edmonton, Canada. The Canada page contains some links to general sources but also includes a stack featuring frame animation, sound and a variety of button types with NetPage links (all in 50K and set to work with the Mac and Windows versions).
An interesting comparison between HTML-based multimedia writing and HyperStudio-based multimedia writing can be found in a poem titled "Night". Macintosh and Windows.
Take a look at these samples which use the frame option in Netscape and the HyperStudio plug-in to create some interesting pages!
