Homework is an
important part of the first grade program. Homework reinforces
skills that are taught in class and provides the students
an opportunity to practice, build confidence, and develop
sound study habits. Teachers and parents will need to work
together to help each child to succeed in developing this
responsibility. Here are some important tips to remember:
-
Homework
will be determined by each teacher and will reflect what
is being studied in class or it will review skills that
have been taught previously.
-
Some assignments
will be due the next day while others may extend over a
few days.
-
Each Friday
your child will bring home his/her spelling notebook. Please
review the contents, sign the appropriate test, and have
your child return it the following Monday.
-
If your child
does not have homework that day, please use that time to
read to your child, have your child read to you, and/or
practice spelling.
-
If you are
having “homework battles,” please call us for
help.
-
Returning
homework is not an option but rather a required part of
first grade.
