Media Center Page
The Library Media Center (LMC) is an
integral part of the life of the Carlisle student. It provides
opportunities for students and staff to read for information and
recreation as well as practice the library skills they will need
in the real word. The goal of the LMC is to provide opportunities
that will enable each student to become an effective user of information
with a lifelong love of reading.
The staff of the LMC consists of Mrs.
Duke, Library Media Specialist; and Mrs. Hancher, library assistant,
and Mrs. Kraatz, Campus Technogy Assistant. The library facilities
are available for the Carlisle community from 7:30 AM to 3:00
PM daily.
Parent volunteers and STOP students
are a valuable asset to the LMC. This commitment makes it possible
for the library to function efficiently and effectively in service
to the students. Carlisle LMC has an inventory of over 12,000
books, eight computer research stations that include the PISD
Internet link, and thirty-five periodical subscriptions for
students and professional staff.
The LMC has a flexible schedule that
permits students to visit the Library Media Center for research
and to check out materials as often as they wish. Every student
has the opportunity to visit the library daily to return, renew,
and checkout books without waiting for his/her class period.
Classes are held weekly for every grade level. Students are
introduced to award winning books in all genres. Author studies
are included as an integral part of literature appreciation.
Lessons focus on literacy skills, research skills, and library
skills. Read-aloud activities are included at every grade level.
