Our Counselor

Forman's counselor has a variety of jobs. He is always working to improve the social, emotional, and educational needs of our students!

Mr Veit conducts classroom guidance lessons and also sees students individually when they need help coping with a problem, or in several different types of groups. Other jobs he performs are coordination of TAKS, CogAT, and other tests required by the state of Texas and the school district. He also assists in CARE meetings which are a team effort by teachers, parents, and principals to provide interventions for children. Mr. Veit also helps coordinate the Student Council which provides services to the school and community.

The counselor also works with the assistant principal and secretary to make sure students comply with the state attendance requirements and conduct parent conferences. When parents and the school unite to help a student, good things happen! Each morning as Forman students drive up to the school, they are greeted by our staff and usually Mr. Veit is there to say "Good morning!" or "Be Cool today!"

In addition, Mr. Veit coordinates the assignments of the safety patrol and the students who raise the flag each day. He also works as a liason with outside agencies that provide school supplies, backpacks, clothing, and other essential goods to students (and families) in need. The counselor's job is very busy, but never dull or boring!

Ron Veit

I am another one of those Okies that has moved south to become the counselor at Forman. This is my 11th year as an educator and 6th as an elementary school counselor. I was also in sales for 15 years and owned my own restaurant for 3 years. I love my job and feel very blessed to be at Forman. It is a wonderful school with great administration, staff, and students. My job provides me with the opportunity to help others deal with situations by using problem solving skills that have proven successful with others that have had similar experiences. I base my counseling program on the James Stanfield "Be Cool" program. Because I will be teaching the children the "Secret of Cool" and how to stay "Cool" under certain situations, I am usually known as the "Cool Counselor Dude." And yes, I am a Sooner fan as well.
