Art Program

The
study of art in the classroom introduces, builds upon, and
reinforces various concepts that bridge across the field
itself and into other academic disciplines. It is my conviction
that art promotes critical reasoning, problem solving, creative
thinking, and risk-taking for the student in a positive
way which children enjoy. Furthermore, it is my belief that
creative solutions and personal expression are the result
of both a well-rounded mind and an equitable education that
involves the fine arts.

Wick
I hold a BFA in Drawing and
Painting from Southern Methodist University and a MA in
Art Education from The University of North Texas. My work
has been exhibited in numerous local and national shows
in well-known institutions such as The Dallas Museum of
Art and Southern Methodist University. My recent interests
lie in the further development of art curriculum in public
schools and the adoption of cross-curricular approaches
to the study of the visual arts within the discipline of
teaching. I have spent a great portion of my life studying
and promoting the fine arts as a vital component of the
human experience and of education in general.
