Harrington Elementary was dedicated on February 18, 1979 and named for Mr. Fred Harrington. Mr. Harrington was born in Collin County, Texas in 1874. He was a farmer who owned the land on which Harrington Elementary was built. He married Carolyn Huffman Harrington and raised four children. He was an active member of the First Christian Church and served on the Plano School Board from 1917 to 1921.

In 2004, our school underwent an extensive renovation which has nearly doubled the size of our building. Our existing structure was kept, and additions, which include our new gymnasium, pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten, Third Grade and front entrance, were added. During the renovation, the main entrance has been reoriented from Country Place Road to Baffin Bay. Our new school, designed by VLK Architects, Inc., was recognized for excellence in planning and design at the 2005 TASB/TASA Exhibit of School Architecture. Harrington won awards in all five categories: value, design, educational appropriateness, innovation and process planning. We are lucky to have such a beautiful building.

Our school Mascot is the husky dog and our school colors are blue and white.
