A
Welcome from our Principal:
Welcome
to the web site for the Hendrick Hawks. We hope this helps you get to
know all about the school your child attends. Our motto is “Failure
is Not an Option” and our mission is to make every student successful.
Positive Relationships with our students, a Rigorous
curriculum and making learning Relevant are cornerstones
of our school.
Hendrick has approximately 880 students and 86 staff members. Each student
is placed on an academic team which consists of four core teachers who
meet weekly to oversee the academic and social needs of the students.
We have a comprehensive elective program in fine arts, athletics, foreign
language, art and skills for living. Our goal is to afford the students
ample opportunities to explore a variety of courses and learning experiences.
We
welcome parents and need their involvement in providing an education for
the students. The administrative team is always available to answer any
questions or listen to comments and concerns.
If you want to contact me for any reason, please email me at Sheila.Spencer@pisd.edu.
Introducing
our New Faculty...
James
Bohannon is in his second year at Hendrick, moving from the
Special Education Dept. as a para-professional, to teaching the NEW
Technology Education classes this year. With the shift to a technologically
advanced society, he is extremely excited about the possibilities of
the new program and eager to see what the young minds of Hendrick can
create through the exploration of Computer and Manufacturing Technology.
James earned his B.A in Business Management from Texas State University
at San Marcos and his fiancé currently works at Rice Middle School
as the 7th Grade Counselor. Their wedding is scheduled for March 13,
2010 in Lubbock, TX.
Lori

School. This is her first year at Hendrick and she's very excited to
be here! This is her 6th year as a speech pathologist in Plano ISD.
She is originally from Arkansas and a fan of the Razorbacks. "Woo
Pig Sooie"! She received her bachelor of arts degree in communication
disorders from Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas
and her masters of science degree in speech language pathology from
University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, Arkansas.
She resides in Dallas and enjoys watching sports, shopping, spending
time with family and friends and traveling.
Joseph

He worked for 7 years for Lockheed Aircraft International in Saudi Arabia,
and then as a Math teacher in a High School in Pakistan. He was a Special
Education teacher at Renner Middle School before he joined Hendrick

moved here from Roswell, Georgia; which is a suburb of Atlanta. She has
taught for 6 years with 2 prior years of experience with Connected Mathematics.

her spare time she likes to run, swim and play with her 2 dachshunds,
Isabelle and Harley.

Help Your Child
SOAR SOAR
is an after school club designed to help students become better at organizing
and more efficient at studying. If your child struggles with staying organized
at school, doesn't know how to study, or can't seem to get a good system
for taking notes we would love to help! SOAR meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays
during all three lunch periods in room A204. We will spend time
learning study skills and ways to succeed in binder organization. Please
contact Coryn Prince at 469-752-5699 or Coryn.Prince@pisd.edu
if you have any questions.
PISD's IB Program
PISD's
International Baccalaureate Program is a rigorous course of study designed
to meet the needs of highly motivated secondary students and to promote
international understanding. The effectiveness of the IB program is due
not only to the depth of the individual courses, but also to the comprehensive
nature of the program. Unlike other honors programs, the IB Program requires
each student to take courses in six academic areas. To qualify for the
International Baccalaureate Diploma, students must take examinations in
six subject areas, participate in the Creativity, Action, and Service
(CAS) program, and write an extended essay during the 11th and 12th grade
years.
