Welcome to 4th Grade!

The fourth grade teachers are extremely excited to welcome you to a year full of opportunities. During the next year, you will have a chance to explore your leadership skills by running for student council or auditioning for honor choir. We will be going on exciting field trips to the Outdoor Learning Center and the Symphony. It will be a busy year of learning fascinating information.

During the summer, there are some things you can be doing to help you become better prepared for your fourth grade year. We do a lot of writing in 4th grade. Spend some time this summer practicing your writing skills by incorporating colorful words, vivid details and complex sentences in your stories. In math, we do expect all of our students to have quick mastery of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division facts through twelve. Please practice these during the summer. Reading is extremely important! We strongly encourage you to experience a variety of genres-such as fiction, non-fiction, biographies, autobiographies, etc. Finally, saddle up and get ready to learn all about Texas History.

The 2006-2007 school year is going to be very exciting. You will learn more than you ever thought possible. Enjoy your summer, and we can’t wait to see your bright smiling faces in August!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Fawcett
