Nut Allergy Letter - please read
ALLERGY ALERT! Dear Parents, WE HAVE A TISSUE SHORTAGE! This a good sign that children are using tissues and not their sleeves! If each child will donate one box of tissues we will have enough until the end of the year! We have several children here at Huffman who have allergies to nuts. Some are much more allergic than others and require emergency medical attention if they have a reaction. We are trying to encourage parents to not send any loose nuts or snacks with any nuts as they can easily fall and scatter and leave a "nut residue". Peanut butter sandwiches are OK to send, as they do not have "loose nuts". We are instructing all children to wash their hands after they eat just in case any have a peanut residue on their hands. Thank you for your understanding. Princess

Information If your child must take medication during the school hours, we ask that you follow the district rules listed below: 1. All prescription medicine must be in the original container and have the pharmacist's label bearing the child's name and directions. 2. Only medications that cannot be scheduled for other than school hours may be given. 3. All non-prescription medicine must be in the original container (we cannot accept medications that are brought to school in baggies, envelopes, tupperware etc.) Please do not put medications in your child's lunchbox/bag. 4. All medications must be accompanied by a written request (the PINK medication form) from the parent/guardian with explicit instructions to adminster the medication. All medications are to be brought to the nurse's office. No medications should be sent to the teacher. 5. No medication is provided by the school district. Please feel free to contact me at the school if you have any questions or would like to discuss your child's health or medications. The medical forms are available in the clinic. Thank you for your cooperation. Sandra McKenzie, Nurse |
