Tonya Grant: I graduated from Sam Houston State University in 1992 with a Degree in Business. I went back to SHSU to major in Elementary Education, where I obtained certification in Elementary Education with an emphasis in Math. In 1999, I completed my Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology and School Counseling at Clark Atlanta University; in Atlanta, GA. Upon graduation, I obtained TX certification in School Counselor. In 2001, I completed the certification program and became certified in Principalship; Texas Woman’s University. I have a beautiful, intelligent, delightful daughter who is excited about becoming a Huffman Hawk this year in 4th grade and her name is Alana. I have 11 years experience in education and I have been a counselor for 8 of those years. I have also taught 1, 2, 3, and Kinder Montessori. I have had the unique experience to work in high school for 3 years as a school counselor. One of the most rewarding lessons I learned was, how important the foundation years are for our youngsters. Elementary years set the stage for what tomorrow will bring academically for our children. I believe all children can achieve and prosper. I always tell children, “Do great things with your life and make a difference.” I am thankful to be apart of such a wonderful team here at Huffman and proud to be a HAWK. Go Huffman Hawks!! Some things I enjoy are: being with family, working in a non-profit organization, reality TV, reading, and doing things with my daughter. I look forward to serving the children, staff, and parents at Huffman E. School.
