Nora Oglesby: I moved to Texas from Canada in 1996 and began working as a CTA with PISD in 1997. I have two grown children and am Grandma to two beautiful babies. I am married to a wonderful guy and love living here in Texas. I love Sci-Fi and am an original Trekki! Technology is near and dear to my heart and it is exciting to have a job I love to do.

Huffman students are provided with many opportunities to use technology. Computers are a major focus in virtually every area of our curriculum. Students begin using computers extensively in Kindergarten and by the time our pupils are ready to leave for middle school, their computer literacy is at an amazingly high level.

PISD has excellent software programs designed to help our students learn and practice their reading, writing and mathematical skills. Our teachers also incorporate the use of computers in specialized areas such as PACE and ESL.

Classroom teachers have a high level of expertise with many different software programs, the Internet and various peripherals. They are able to instruct our students in all areas of using computers, scanners, digital cameras, and printers. The use of the Elmo projection systems allows teachers the flexibility of using various materials for demonstrations to the students.

Students are adept at using the Internet for research and our library houses several research stations. Each classroom has been outfitted with banks of computers and students use them every day for various activities including multimedia presentations.

We have two programs in place to provide students with desktop computers or laptops for home use.
