There are always many events happening at Memorial

The History Fair was held on November 5th. We were pleased to have 91 students enter the fair this year and they all did a wonderful job! The judges really had a hard time.

The Texas Alliance for Geographic Education and The National Geographic Society jointly sponsor "Geography Awareness Week". The 21st annual poster contest theme was " Mapping the Americas: People, Places, Environment, Culture, Landscape". Students had the opportunity to compare and contrast the geographic, cultural and historic aspects of North America and South America. Our Grand Winner poster was an entry in the state wide competition which was held in Austin the week of November 16-22.

The teachers at Memorial Elementary yelled, "Reading Rocks!" as they celebrated the grand opening of their Literacy Library. Principal Maricela Helm and Pilar Westfried were elated to cut the ribbons and open the doors to Guided Reading! Over 600 titles of leveled readers in English and Spanish are available for checkout. Pilar Westfried, Bilingual Literacy Specialist explained the leveling system and the borrowing system after the ribbon cutting. Reading Rocks at Memorial!
