Course Descriptions

Concert Band [1]
Prerequisite: Audition by instructor
This band provides an opportunity for students to continue instrumental development at an intermediate level. This band will perform as a part of the total band program at all designated football games, pep assemblies, parades, marching contests, concerts, and festivals. Time will be required outside of class for rehearsals, trips, and other engagements. Students enrolled in this section are encouraged to enroll in the corresponding ensemble class. Attendance at all after school rehearsals and performances is required. This is a full year course.

Symphonic Band I [1]
Prerequisite: Audition by instructor
This band provides an opportunity for students to continue instrumental development at an intermediate/advanced level. This band will perform as a part of the total band program at all designated football games, pep assemblies, parades, marching contests, concerts, and festivals. Time will be required outside of class for rehearsals, trips, and other engagements. Students enrolled in this section are encouraged to enroll in the corresponding ensemble class. Attendance at all after school rehearsals and performances is required. This is a full year course.

Wind Ensemble [1]
Prerequisite: Audition by instructor
This will be the top-performing band in grades 9 - 10. This band provides an opportunity for students to continue instrumental development at an advanced level. This band will perform as a part of the total band program at all designated football games, pep assemblies, parades, marching contests, concerts, and festivals. Time will be required outside of class for rehearsals, trips, and other engagements. Students enrolled in this section are encouraged to enroll in the corresponding ensemble class. Attendance at all after school rehearsals and performances is required. This is a full year course.

Instrumental Ensemble I-Percussion [. 5-1]
Prerequisite: Approval of Instructor
This class is designed for the percussion student interested in small ensemble performance. Students will have the opportunity to perform music different from that of the standard band repertoire. This course must be taken in conjunction with Band.

Instrumental Ensemble I-Woodwinds [. 5-1]
Prerequisite: Approval of Instructor
This class is designed for the woodwind student interested in small ensemble performance. Students will have the opportunity to perform music different from that of the standard band repertoire. This course must be taken in conjunction with Band.

Instrumental Ensemble I-Brass [. 5-1]
Prerequisite: Approval of Instructor
This class is designed for the brass student interested in small ensemble performance. Students will have the opportunity to perform music different from that of the standard band repertoire. This course must be taken in conjunction with Band.
