Mrs. Ried had the opportunity to serve Weatherford students and staff as Bilingual Literacy Specialist and now she carries on as Assistant Principal. She feels privileged to have the opportunity to serve the Weatherford community.

Mrs. Elly Ried originally came from El Paso, where she received a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Texas at El Paso. Currently she is working on her masters in Educational Administration at the University of North Texas. Mrs. Ried’s teaching experience entails working in a bilingual classroom at different grade levels, bilingual team leader, bilingual literacy specialist and now Assistant Principal.

In addition to Spanish she is also fluent in Farsi as her family lived in Iran for several years. This opportunity gave Mrs. Ried a better insight as to what our students experience as they learn a new language.

Our Assistant Principal sees Weatherford as a school that offers a challenging educational environment by providing child centered classrooms with an instructional focus on multitasking and small group instruction. Staff and students set high expectations for themselves in a positive learning environment that encourages and nurtures creativity. At Weatherford the focus is to build on what the child knows in order to continue to nurture critical thinking and problem solving skills.
