I am excited to be a Christie Cub... for the second year in a row.  Christie is a great school to work at, with an exceptional staff, and terrific students.  The 2009-2010 school year promises to be very exciting with our new principal, Lorraine Shimizu.  I look forward to continuing to work with the staff, the parents, and the community to help our Christie students grow both academically and personally.  As assistant principal, I want to help our students realize their full potential as they grow toward their future and achieve their dreams.  Support from the parents, the families, the staff, and the community is crucial for the continued success of our students.

This school year is my thirteenth year as an educator.  All of my years in education have been in the Plano Independent School District.  For the past two years I have been an assistant principal, one year each at Christie and Davis Elementary Schools. I worked as a special education teacher at Forman, Skaggs, and Huffman before I became an assistant principal.  Growing up in Michigan, I always dreamed of being a teacher.  I loved school, and I loved learning about the world outside my small town.  I received my Bachelor of Science in Education Degree from Central Michigan University. It has been extremely important to me to continue learning throughout my life.  I also have two Master’s Degrees in Education from the University of North Texas, one in Elementary Education and one in Educational Administration.

My husband, Bill, and I live in Plano and have two children who are fortunate to have attended Kindergarten through Twelfth Grade in Plano ISD.  My daughter, Katy, is a senior at Texas Tech University and will graduate in December with a degree from the College of Architecture.  She will continue at TTU for her Master’s Degree in Architecture.  My son, Bobby, will be a freshman at Quad C beginning this fall.  He loves to learn languages and plans to pursue a degree that utilizes that interest.  In my spare time I love to spend time with my family and cats, read books, and watch sports.

In my first year at Christie I had the pleasure of meeting many of the parents and families of our students.  I hope to meet even more of you this year.  We have a mutual interest in helping your children learn and achieve their maximum potential as both a student and as a well rounded individual.  The next time you are at Christie, please take the time to introduce yourself to me.  I look forward to meeting each one of you. Christie is a wonderful school and I am very excited to be working with your children for a second year.
