MEDICATION POLICY FOR THE CLINIC

This is a brief overview of policy for medication in the clinic.

No medication will be accepted from a child. No exception.

An adult parent or legal guardian is the only person who can bring medication to the clinic to be checked in by the nurse for administration to your child.

Any PRESCRIPTION medication must have the proper label from the pharmacy, with the appropriate child’s name, current date (within 1 year only), the physician’s name, the correct strength AND the correct dosage to be given.

NON-PRESCRIPTION medication may be brought to the clinic by the adult parent or legal guardian. Non prescription medication may be kept in the clinic for 10 days only without a doctor’s note, stating that “Tylenol may be given for the entire school year” for example. Others will be destroyed.

ASTHMA medication is a prescription. The inhaler, must be
labeled or contained in the original box from the pharmacy
and follows the same procedure in #1 and #2

Hopefully this will be helpful in the future for assisting the clinic in following the PISD guidelines.
