Our philosophy for volleyball focuses on a mixture of athletics and academics.  Teamwork is emphasized along with exemplary sportsmanship both on and off the court.  With this in mind, here are some ground rules for try outs.

1)  Try outs will be held in August . All students will be provided an equal opportunity to showcase their skills and be evaluated by the coaching staff. 
2)  Students who do not have athletics will be required to come before school for 7th grade and after school for 8th grade..  All students need a pair of red (7th) or blue (8th) athletic shorts, gym shoes and a white or gray T-shirts.

Students will be evaluated using two categories:
Objectively:  The student will be required to exhibit fundamental volleyball skills ranging from speed, agility, passing, setting, spiking, and serving.  These will be measured and recorded using a point system.
Subjectively:  The coaching staff will evaluate the students in areas as hustle, attitude, teamwork and leadership.  These will also be measured and recorded using a point system.

The total points from both the objective and subjective categories will be totaled and ranked.  The top 22-24 athletes from each grade will make up the Haggard Middle School Volleyball Team.
