Hello, my name is Tina Hardison and I have the wonderful privilege of being the principal of the Head Start Program in Plano ISD.  I grew up right here in Plano and am a graduate of Plano Senior High School.  I received my bachelor’s degree in early childhood from North Texas State University (now University of North Texas) and my master’s degree in educational administration from Texas A & M – Commerce.  While I have taught Pre-K, 1st, and 2nd grades, my passion has always been early childhood education.
As the administrator for the Head Start program, I have the pleasure of working with 28 very dedicated staff members.  It is a joy to hire and supervise a staff that is so devoted to children and families.  We are so pleased to provide a developmentally appropriate learning environment for three, four, and five-year-olds as well as provide educational programs for the parents of our students.  In addition to developing academically, our students receive two meals a day and brush their teeth every day at Head Start.  The parents of our students work with our Family Services staff to set goals that will help improve the quality of life for their families.
We are proud to be part of Plano Independent School District as well as the nation-wide Head Start program.  Plano ISD has one of the few Head Start programs that can boast of beginning in 1965 when it was first authorized under President Lyndon B. Johnson.  Our program has been housed in multiple places around Plano, including several years in a wing of Meadows Elementary.  Because Meadows was more than forty years old, a replacement building was built for Meadows and Head Start at the same location.  The new building opened in August 2008.  Plano ISD Head Start has been serving children and families for more than forty years, and we are excited to keep going for forty more!
