Welcome back to another great year at Mathews. I hope you have enjoyed a long, relaxing, fun filled summer. This year’s PTA theme is “Making a Good Thing Better”. When it comes to Mathews Elementary that is quite a challenge because it is already an excellent school. I feel confident that with our great team of dedicated parents, staff and teachers we will accomplish our goal. Everyone at Mathews has worked hard to continue the commitment of excellence in education and it is evident when you walk in the door. I feel truly blessed to be a part of this community.
I am very excited about all the physical changes occurring at Mathews. Of course, there may be a few obstacles to work around during the construction but as always our staff and teachers will rise to the occasion. I ask that you have patience this year while your children are at Mathews. Your continued support will be greatly appreciated.
Mathews PTA has been busy this summer planning some wonderful activities. To name a few, we will be having art and music programs for our kids, a South Pacific Luau Carnival and Silent Auction, Literacy and Parent Ed programs and a family spring picnic. We are also trying something different with our fundraisers. Instead of all fundraisers being held in the fall we are going to be selling Gift Wrap in September and Cookie Dough in January.
I hope that you will continue your generous support of Mathews PTA. With your help we are able to provide such things as materials for the classroom, books for the library and Literacy Library, additional curriculum materials, new sports equipment for our PE department, Art Night with the Classics as well as other programs brought directly to the school for all grade levels.
Thank you for allowing me to serve the membership as PTA President this year. My goal is to “Make a Good Thing Better” and with your help I know we can do it!
