Head Start Logo How Can A Child Be Enrolled?
 
There are three basic requirements for prospective students: 
  1. The child must be three or four years old by September 1. 
  2. The child must live within the boundaries of the Plano Independent School District. 
  3. The family's income must fall within federal poverty level income guidelines.
Application Checklist:
 
Copy of the child's birth certificate Copy of the child's immunization record
Copy of the income tax return or check stubs or proof of TANF assistance Copy of a utility bill or lease contract in parent name(s), or notarized PISD proof of residency form. 
If applicable: 
Copies of the social security card(s) of child and parent(s), proof of Medicaid, CCMS, Food Stamps, WIC

APPLICATION/REGISTRATION/ENROLLMENT
April   Applications for the coming year are available at Meadows Elementary in the Head Start area Monday - Friday during regular school hours. 
 June 
  and
 July
Head Start staff notifies families who qualify for registration and screening. 
August Families who have been notified register during the first week of the Plano ISD calendar year. Children begin classes the 2nd week of the PISD calendar year. 
 
After initial enrollment is complete, a waiting list is maintained. During the school year, openings are filled with children on this list. Children may be added to the waiting list by following the above process at any time during the school year.
