Course Information

Prerequisite: 1 year of Chemistry
An uninterrupted math program. The typical student is concurrently enrolled in pre-calculus or calculus. Completion of one year of physics is recommended, but not required.

Course Description: This course meets the requirement of a college-level general chemistry course, as usually offered in any 2 or 4 year college or university. This is a course which meets for 2 hrs per day(10 hrs per week). Approximately 5-6 hrs per week are spent in the laboratory. Students use instruments and computers to gather and analyze data. The quantitative and theoretical models which serve as a foundation to higher level science courses are developed and applied. This course prepares the student to take the AP Chemistry exam offered in May of each year. A student who earns a successful score on this exam is eligible for college credit hours as determined by the policy of the individual college to which they gain admission.
