Service Learning Project for Economics
Jobs in the 21st Century

Students will find information about labor markets, the skills necessary for these jobs, and the job opportunities available. This information will be used to create a product and an activity for sharing with 7th or 8th grade students. Each student will spend time mentoring the younger students and sharing this information with them in a way that the younger students will find interesting.

This project will count as 1 test grade in the third six weeks.

Purposes and Objectives of Project

4 components to project: Students may work in pairs on parts one and two, but parts three and four must be completed independently.
 

     1. Student Proposal: 10 points.       Due Date:            Monday October 2
                The proposal will include:

   2.    Completion of Hours: 10 points          Due Date:      Monday November 6
        a.   Students will turn in the form that shows completion of hours with appropriate
               signature.
          b.  Students will include at least three photos of the actual service learning
              activity.

   3.  Product : 30 points                                Due Date:    Monday November 6
             a.  Students will turn in product used in service learning activity.
                       (This can be either the video, poster or brochure used to share info
                         with students, or the info itself in essay form.)
             A bibliography will be included with the product.

    4. Reflection Questions: 50 points             Due Date :   Monday November 6
Answers must be typed. Answers may be concise, but must be complete answers.
