Plano West Choir Booster Club Board
The Plano West Choirs have been consistent UIL Sweepstakes winners since the opening of the school. They have placed several hundred students in Region Choir in the ten year span of time as well as 51 All-State members. The Choirs have performed in venues such as the National Cathedral in Washington D.C., the Naval Academy, Annapolis, Rutgers University, St. Matthews Cathedral, West Point, St. John the Divine in New York, Pepperdine University, Loyola University, and have been selected as the Best of Class in numerous national festivals. Students have received scholarships in Universities such as Northwestern, Harvard, Yale, LSU, UCLA, Columbia, University of Texas, and UNT among others.
The choirs present a fall concert, winter or Masterworks concert, Pre-UIL concert, and Showtime, a spring show of pop, rock, Broadway, and country selections with costuming and choreography.
The specialty groups, Syncopation, a mixed ensemble, and Rhapsody, a women’s ensemble, present two concerts annually. They perform programs for local events, schools, hospitals, and are frequently called to perform for various non profit groups throughout the Metroplex. They sponsor, teach and work as counselors for the annual Summer Showtime for 5th-10th graders.
World renowned conductors including Dr. Anton Armstrong, (St. Olaf), Dr. Z. Randall Stroope, (OSU), and Dr. Donald Neuen, (UCLA) have been more than complimentary as they have worked in the clinic and concert settings with the PWSH Choirs.
*Students may enroll for honors credit in the choir program.

The first contest is District in September' those who advance compete for Region in October; those students who advance perform in the Region Choir Concert and compete for the Pre-Area placement in November. The first or second Saturday in January is the final phase to decide who is placed in the Texas All-State Choir. Each phase is narrowed down to a select few.
This past Saturday was an intense and exciting competition! Ten students from Plano West auditioned and NINE were selected for the All-State Choir. This is the largest number from Plano West in the history of the school, and more than any other school in Region 25. Please congratulate:
Lisa Zhang who was selected as the number one soprano in the Area (following her entrance to MIT a few weeks ago. Wow)! Kelly Silverthorn Harrison Tsai Erin Alonzo Kelly D'Souza Wesley Parker Liz Hagag Nathan Wills Natalie Wells
These students will have the opportunity to work with outstanding conductors and perform with the best of the best in Texas February 9-12th in San Antonio.
