As
Principal, let me welcome you to Shepard Elementary School!
I have been an educator
for 30 + years and feel honored to work at such an excellent school.During
those years I taught first, third and fourth grades, as well as worked
as a reading specialist with grades K-6. I even taught a few reading
courses to undergraduates at the University of Missouri in St. Louis. I grew up in Houston, TX and received my undergraduate degree in education from the University of Texas in Austin. There I met and married my husband, Jeff. His job took us to St. Louis where I continued to teach and go to school myself. I earned my Master’s Degree in Education there. One thing I learned about myself during that time was that I love learning, so I was frequently going back to take a course here and there. When I began my work towards my administration certification my husband’s job brought us back to Texas. Here in Plano I taught at Mitchell and Huffman, and served as Principal intern at Mitchell, Barksdale, Hughston and Carlisle while I completed my administration certification. I then served as Principal at Saigling Elementary prior to coming to Shepard. During my varied school experiences I had some excellent role models who instilled some important values: All decisions must begin with what is best for the children. We
choose our attitude. Why not make it a good one?
If
we love our work, we never really have to “work.”
Be
there. (Wherever, whenever that is; be in the moment)

I
trust that you will find that philosophy to be evident here at Shepard.
Students here think this is a wonderful place to learn and grow. If
you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to speak to
your child’s teacher, the counselor, or myself.
