Chemistry

Research & Design
In this course students will explore science and become aquatinted with the scientific community, improve fundamental research skills, apply statistical analysis, and enhance oral and visual presentation techniques. Each student will be required to develop his/her own independent science research project and will learn how to structure, organize, publish, and present the project in one or more formal presentations to a panel of judges.

Integrated Physics & Chemistry
This course integrates integrates the disciplines of physics and chemistry in topics such as the following: motion, waves, energy, transformations, properties of matter, changes in matter, and solution chemistry. The use of technology and laboratory investigation will be primary focus in instruction. Student investigation will emphasize accurate observations, collection of data, data analysis, and the safe manipulation of laboratory apparatus, and materials in the laboratory.

Chemistry
This course of study emphasizes the investigation of matter and its interactions and the factors affecting the interactions. The context for investigating these interactions is our community.

Honors Chemistry
Honors Chemistry 1 is a class where students learn the same concepts as regular chemistry, but in a more traditional format. The pace is quicker and on a higher level than basic chemistry.

Biology
Biology is the study of the structure, growth, and function of life systems. The study will encompass historical contributions to biological concepts. Students gather information using their senses and instrumentation. Observations are made of living organisms in the environment, prepared specimens, various ecosystems, and inherited traits.

Honors Biology
The biology honors course offers students an in-depth study and observation of living organisms in the environment, prepared specimens, various ecosystems, and inherited traits. Student investigations emphasize accurate observations, collection of data, data analysis, and the safe manipulation of laboratory apparatus and materials in the field and the laboratory.

Astronomy
This course consists of the study of stars, planets, galaxies, rocketry, constellations, moons, and so on. Students will experience what professional astronomers actually encounter.
