Introductory Speaker Opportunities
This year students who have an elected position in a club or organization will have an opportunity to become an introductory speaker at morning announcements and at certain designated events should the need arise. If you are a club officer and wish to participate, please secure a form from your club sponsor or in the front office. If you have plans to organize a non-curricular club, you must organize and elect officers ASAP in order to be included as an introductory speaker for the first semester. Forms will only be available through Wednesday, Sept. 3 and must be returned to the front office by the end of that school day. See an administrator if you have any questions.
Night School Information
Night School Pre-registration is going on right now, August 25 thru Sept 17. Semester two courses are taught in the fall and semester one courses are taught in the spring. Students can take English, Math, and Social Studies classes and receive a half credit per semester. This is a great way to make up a course you might not have passed. Classes are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30-8:30 PM and are held at PSHS. Cost is $200 per semester. Anyone needing more information needs to contact the Vines Counseling Office.
Credit-by-Exam Test for Spanish Levels 1 & 2
The Credit-by-Exam Test for Spanish Levels 1 & 2 will be offered here at Vines on Monday, September 8, 2008 to those students who are either “Native” or “Heritage” Speakers. “Native” speakers are foreign-born students who received part of their education in a Spanish-speaking country.
If you’d like to recommend as a teacher a Spanish Native Student in your class to receive credit for Spanish Levels 1 & 2, please request a Consent Form from your Department Head or e-mail Ms. Dubin to receive one. A parent or legal guardian of recommended student must authorized this form.
National Honor Society BOARD ONLY!!!
Welcome back. Our first meeting will be Thursday, September 4th at 4:15 in room C179. Board members if you want to earn a service hour the week of September 2, see Ms. Pendleton.
10 Grade Lady Vikings Volleyball
The 10th grade Lady Vikings will play Jasper at Vines on Wednesday, 9/3, at 6:30p. Come and cheer for our awesome Lady Vikings!
Vines Vikings Football
The 10th grade Vines Vikings football will kick off its season Wednesday, 9/3, against Rockwall Heath. The game is at Rockwall, game time 6:00p. Remember to wear Vines spirit wear on Wednesday to support our football team.
The 9th grade teams have an open week.
Desktop publishing Club
Desktop publishing club will meet Wednesday, September 3, in Room D171c 4:15 – 5pm to discuss meeting times, election of officers, etc. Please see Mrs. Silver in room D171C if you have questions.
PACE/ Humanities Program Testing
If you are interested in testing for the PACE/Humanities program, please see Mrs. Buteyn or Ms. Liefer in room B241 before or after school for a testing packet. Packets are due Tuesday, September 9.
Schedule Changes
Friday, September 5, is the deadline for schedule change forms to be turned into the counseling office! NO EXCEPTIONS!!!
