Turning on and selecting the source

Power on the source you wish to display (computer, VCR, VID/Elmo, LaserDisc, Digital Camera, etc.

Select the source you wish to display using the A/V Switch Box

Turn on the tv as needed. If the source you have selected on the A/V Switch Box is not displaying on the tv, make sure that the TV is set to display the correct source. This will depend on the brand of TV you have. For most brands the TV should be set to display the VIDEO 1 or AUX as its source.

This setting will be used for the TV, no matter what source you wish to display. This will be the number 1 issue to check on first, if you are not "seeing" what you have selected to "see" on the A/V Switch Box. For example, if you want to display your computer screen on the mounted tv, you have it selected on the A/V Switch Box, all cable connections are correct, and you don't "see" the computer's picture on your TV.....the first thing to check is to go the front panel of the TV (or use the TV's remote control) and check (change) to make sure that the TV is set to currently display it's VIDEO 1 or AUX channel (or similar, depending on the TV brand.)

Note: Some AV boxes have 5 inputs. They work the same.

To play the computer's screen and sound through the AV system:

A. Turn on the TV. Once it is warmed up and fully on, if not already set, select the AUX or VIDEO source (using the TV's remote, if available) as the source you wish to display.

B. Engage the 1st (left-most) button on the black A/V Switch Box ("Pelican") to send the computer's audio and video signals to the TV.

C. Adjust the volume, as needed, with the TV's volume controls or with the TV's remote and/or with the Windows (Computer) Volume Controls.

TIP: To improve computer sound quality, users should adjust their Window's Volume Control (located in the lower right hand corner of your computer's desktop) in addition to the TV volume control.

To play the VCR through the AV system:

A. Engage the 2nd button "VCR" (from the front left side) on the A/V Switch Box.
B. If not already set, select the AUX or VIDEO source on the TV.
C. Adjust the volume, as needed, with the TV volume control.
D. If viewing a movie, just insert and press play. If viewing CATV (Cable TV) feed, use the VCR remote or buttons on the front of the VCR to navigate to desired channel. Remember, do not change channels using the TV channel buttons or TV remote. The TV will need to stay on the "Video 1/Aux" (or similar, depending on TV brand) source for all uses with this system.

It's the "Pelican" A/V Switch Box that takes care of changing which source is displayed on the TV screen. It's the VCR that takes care of "changing TV channels".

To play a LaserDisc through the AV system:

A. Depending on how your LaserDisc Player is connected to the A/V Switch Box, engage the 3rd or 4th button (from the front left side) on the A/V Switch Box.
B. If not already set, select the AUX or VIDEO source on the TV.
C. Insert the laserdisc and press play on the LaserDisc Player.
D. Adjust the volume, as needed, with the TV volume control.

To view a VID (ELMO)* device through the AV system:

A. Depending on how your VID (Elmo) device is connected to the A/V Switch Box, engage the 3rd or 4th button (from the front left side) on the A/V Switch Box.
B. If not already set, select the AUX or VIDEO source on the TV.
C. If using the type of Elmo that has a built-in microphone and you are utilizing this, then adjust the volume, as needed, with the TV volume control.

* Connect the VID to the 3rd or 4th A/V source on the back of the AV Switch Box. Make sure to choose the button (on the front of the AV Switch Box) that matches the connection for your setup. Some classrooms may not utilize a VID (ELMO) device for their curriculum.
