ASPER honors Plano banker and businessman Thomas Chilton Jasper (1844-1924). A Confederate veteran from Kentucky, he came to Plano in 1887 and opened Plano National Bank, serving as its head cashier until his retirement in 1913. Jasper was also treasurer of Texas Electric Railway company and a founder of the Plano Cotton Oil Company (1902). Jasper High opened in 1996 and shares its 104-acre campus with Gulledge Elementary and Robinson Middle Schools. The three are served by a unique thermal heating and cooling system that will save the district thousands of dollars in operating costs. Jasper was built on a modified Shepton plan and features an Industrial Technology lab. In 1997, Plano I.S.D. opened a Professional Development Center at Jasper, to train teachers and administrators
