Adult Education

All adult learners are assessed upon entry into the program. This test serves as a placement test only for proper instruction for the learner. Once a placement test is given, each adult is placed in the appropriate group for their learning level. All classes are geared toward basic skills and attitudes toward education.
Included in the adult education classes are:
  1. Basic literacy skills
  2. ESL Classes
  3. ABE Classes (Adult Basic Education)
  4. Computer Instruction

The program is English based in instruction. The federal government directs programs to emphasize English as the one unified language of the United States.

Educate a parent

Educate a family

Adult students participate in adult education while their children are in their own classroom if they are participating in the full family literacy program. The program offers a few spaces (when available) to adults who are able to meet the hourly commitment but are not in need of early childhood education for their children. Students’ goals and needs are used to select materials and content, plan instructional sequencing, develop procedures and conduct evaluation of progress. The adult students spend approximately 20 hours each week in academic and life skills study.
