adult learners are assessed upon entry into the program. This test
serves as a placement test only for proper instruction for the learner.
Once a placement test is given, each adult is placed in the appropriate
group for their learning level. All classes are geared toward basic
skills and attitudes toward education.

The program is English based
in instruction. The federal government directs programs to emphasize
English as the one unified language of the United States.
Educate a family
participate in adult education while their children are in their
own classroom if they are participating in the full family literacy
program. The program offers a few spaces (when available) to adults
who are able to meet the hourly commitment but are not in need of
early childhood education for their children. Students’ goals
and needs are used to select materials and content, plan instructional
sequencing, develop procedures and conduct evaluation of progress.
The adult students spend approximately 20 hours each week in academic
and life skills study.
