Unit Contents
Students learn how their school and home gives them a solid foundation to grow and learn. They discover that there are rules and responsibilities at school and at home. Map skills are a focus, as students explore the concept that we all have homes, a hometown, a home state, and a home country, and a home planet or world. They will learn that regardless of where they live people must follow the same health and safety rules in order to live a balanced and stable life. Students will learn the rules to build a solid health and safety foundation.

Students will examine library manners (rules for the library).
Library Orientation - by Sarah Peters
Modify to fit your library. Use the entire PPT for all 1-5 grades, but spend less time on some slides at the lower grades. Use as works best for you.
Mapping the Library - by Brenda McElyea
Students will identify major areas of the library as they draw maps of the library.
