Overarching Concept: Interactions

Organizing Idea: How the Parts Interact To Make the Whole

Unit Contents

Students identify the relationships of parts to a whole as they study the establishment of the United States. They also explore how the biotic and abiotic (living and non-living) factors of the environment affected life in the early colonies, and they look at the interactions between Europeans and Native American cultures. Students classify matter based on physical properties and learn about interactions that occur between the ingredients in mixtures and solutions.
