Organizing Idea: How Do I Learn About My World?
Unit Contents
The investigation of a variety of communication methods is the focus of this Organizing Idea. Students learn how to use their senses to gain information and how to apply this information to new situations. They work in groups, explore objects, and classify individual collections. Students develop questioning strategies and skills needed in communication. They use a variety of tools such as balance scales, hand magnifiers and nonstandard units of measurement.

The students will review the characteristics of reality and fantasy with a Power Point presentation. Then they will categorize books into correct groups independently.
