| The Plano ISD elementary music
program is internationally recognized for its quality. Plano elementary
music specialists are in constant demand as presenters at state
and national music conventions. Students in the elementary schools
attend music classes taught by specialists schooled in the Kodaly
methodology. The goal of the music program at this level is musical
literacy. Students are engaged in activities where they HEAR music
of the highest quality, SING a wide variety of folk, seasonal, and
patriotic music, DERIVE basic music elements from the songs and
listening selections, WRITE compositions consisting of concepts
presented, READ music independently, CREATE their own compositions,
and PERFORM for others. Music classrooms include a full compliment of pitched and unpitched percussion instruments. Plano Children's Chorale Click here for access to more information and forms for the Plano Children's Chorale. Plano Independent School District Summer Music Camp The Plano ISD offers a summer choir camp for its elementary music students. The camp is four weeks in length and is offered in conjunction with various other summer programs for students. Students are invited to participate in choral activitities, Orff instrumental ensembles, and a variety of traditional singing games and folk dances. The camp activities culminate in a performance for parents and friends. For further information,

Plano Independent School District Elementary Fine Arts Series Each year the Plano ISD schedules a fine arts series to provide every elementary student the opportunity to experience outstanding live professional concerts and performances.
