The secondary music program of the Plano ISD is designed to provide opportunities for each student to develop his/her creative talents in a number of ways. The program consists of four areas---band, choir, orchestra, and music theory.

The music theory program begins in the eleventh grade with Music Theory I. This course is designed as an entry level course in the fundamentals of music and music composition. Along with its sequel, Music Theory IIAP, instruction is provided through the use of an eighteen station MIDI lab, complete with Macintosh computers, sequencers, synthesizers, and Roland keyboards. Students enrolled in both Music Theory I and Music Theory IIAP have several projects throughout the year. Those at the upper levels of achievement often will work with other areas of the fine arts department in refining personal and group compositional projects.

For further information, please contact either of the music theory instructors listed under the music faculty page, or the performing arts office at 469-752-8184.
