PACEStudent

Transferring To Plano ISD

Welcome to the Plano I.S.D.! Because there is no national or state standard for placement in a school district's gifted program, students enrolling in the PISD from another school's gifted program must have their former placement records reviewed by the campus gifted specialist to determine if the student qualifies for immediate participation or if additional assessment is required. Students entering from tuition-based schools also require a letter stating that the student was identified as gifted at the former institution and participated in a designated program for gifted students.

When enrolling a student into any Plano public school, inform the office/counselor that the student participated in the gifted and talented program in the previous district and that you would like his/her records reviewed for participation in PACE (the local gifted and talented program). The records will be reviewed by the campus gifted specialist.

You will be asked to supply the gifted specialist with the following information:
  • written documentation showing previous placement in another school's gifted program;
  • results of group-administered, nationally-normed aptitude and achievement tests administered within either the last 2 calendar years or the last 2 school years;
  • completed Gifted Transfer Request form available from the campus Gifted Specialist.

NOTE: District target scores for PACE students are typically at or above 130 on aptitude tests and at or above the 97%ile on math and reading achievement tests.

If a student is missing scores, the tests results are out-of-date, or the scores are below our local target, additional testing will be offered.

Any transfer student who does not qualify by these procedures may be referred for testing the following school year.
