ILA
| ILA means Interactive Literacy Activity and is designed to enhance interaction between the parent child. Very young children have the opportunity to participate with their parent during the day at school. Evening time provides ILA for the school age child and their parents. Parents practice teaching skills and communication by using the classroom as a lab setting for instruction. This process facilitates new interaction patterns leading to positive, supportive relationships. | |

Home Visits Each family in the program receives home visits from a home visit facilitator. These visit are useful to staff in learning what are appropriate materials for school, discussing child development with parents and tying the school and home together in a learning atmosphere. Home visitors
build a rapport with families as they continue the home visit
process. Each staff member learns the progress of families as
they observe them in their own environment. A HOME (Home Observation
Monitor Evaluation) is used at the beginning of the year as a
pre and at the end of the year as a post assessment to evaluate
parenting skills learned throughout the school year. |
