BigMack
Communication Aid Tips
and Ideas
Use
the BigMack in this ingenious way. Program the teacher’s name
along with a request into the device. For example, “Ms. Johnson,
please come here.” When the teacher hears that she is being called,
she should run over to the child and make a huge fuss. The child will
quickly learn the power of communicating through the BigMack.
Use the BigMack
when sending a student with a message to another classroom or the office.
For example: “It’s time for my medicine.” “Mrs.
Crawford needs the three hole punch.”
Record the beginning
of the “Pledge of Allegiance” on the BigMack so that the
student can start the pledge for the rest of his or her class to join
in.
Use the BigMack
in preschool classes during story time to enable each child to be an
active participant in helping to tell the story. A repetitive line for
a story, such as “She was too busy spinning her web.” Or
“What did I see?” can be recorded into a BigMack allowing
the child to share in the story-telling activity.
Involve students
with disabilities in a class play. Record the child’s line into
the BigMack and the child can activate the device to deliver his or
her line.
The BigMack can
be used at mealtime to enable users to express phrases like: “more”
or “finished”
The BigMack can
help make a fun game even better. For example, when playing games record
phrases like: “I win!” “Bingo!” “My turn!”
“This is fun!”
