Making Popcorn

popcorn

Goal: Making popcorn is an activity that can be incorporated into many learning as well as leisure activities. You incorporate the
use of all 5 of your senses – seeing, hearing, smelling, touching and tasting – when you make popcorn. Popcorn can be used in
art activities and makes great counters for math. It can be used for bingo and other game markers and is often made and sold at school functions.

Steps

1. Before activating the popcorn popper, a person or group of people will need to follow the recipe steps. Here is a suggested sequence:

Measure ¼ cup of oil.
Pour the oil into popper.
Measure ½ cup of popcorn.
Pour it into the popper.
Place the lid on the popper.
Turn on the popper.
Listen and watch the popcorn pop.
When it is done, turn off the popper.
Remove the popcorn from the popper.

The amounts of popcorn and oil will vary with the popcorn popper being used. Be sure to follow manufacturers instructions.
