Each of the secondary schools in PISD has active competitive speech programs. Speech teams compete in tournaments local, state and national tournaments. Additionally, several PISD speech teams host tournaments on their campuses.

2005-06 Competitions/Fine Arts Calendar

Schools are affiliated with the following organizations and participate in tournaments sanctioned by these organizations:

National Forensic League
Students attain membership in this honorary national organization by competing in tournaments. The Plano schools compete in the NFL District Tournament each spring. Winners in this tournament then attend the NFL National Tournament which is held each June. Plano schools have achieved national recognition through their successes at the national tournament with numerous national champions and national finalists.

Texas Forensic Association
Each year the PISD secondary schools compete in numerous invitational qualifying tournaments. Through these tournaments students earn qualification to participate in the TFA State Tournament which is held March 3-6. Plano squads prove their excellence with continued success in TFA tournaments.

University Interscholastic League
The senior high schools also successfully compete in speech and debate competition offered by UIL.
