Trouble
Shooting at the Remote Site
Distance Learning Labs
The Distance Learning
Lab is pre-programmed to connect the session at 8:45 each B-day. If the
equipment is not connected to electrical power at 8:45, the system will
not automatically connect your school later when the units are plugged
in. For this reason, it is important that this equipment is not unplugged.
- If you can see
but cannot hear other sites, check the volume to be sure it is high
enough. Use both the monitor's remote control and the Tandberg's remote
control.
- If you can hear
but cannot see other sites, be sure the monitors are turned on.
- If the other party
cannot hear you, it is possible that your microphone is muted. Use the
mute button on the Tandberg remote control to activate the microphone.
- If you are receiving
no transmission, check the following:
- the units are
plugged into electrical power and the power button on the monitors
are on.
- the unit is
plugged into the network drop.
- If you are not
connected, ask the distance learning teacher to connect you. If this
does not work, call Instructional Technology and ask them to try connecting
you.
- If connection problems
still exist, unplug all of your units from the electrical power for
about 20 seconds and then plug them back in and ask Instructional Technology
to try again to connect you.
- If problems still
exist after calling Instructional Technology, tell the teacher you are
putting your phone on speaker phone and ask her to do the same so that
students can hear the teacher through the phone.
- Using the monitor's
remote control, confirm that the audio/video source is set to S-Video.
- If the remote
site can see and hear other sites but cannot see themselves, check the
S-Video cable on the back of the student-view monitor. When this cable
is disconnected, everything works except the students cannot see themselves!
- If the remote
site can see themselves, but not in color, check the S-Video cable on
the back of the student-view monitor. When this cable is only partially
connected, color will be lost.
