Smile! Your school's digital camera makes adding images to projects,
multimedia presentations.....even your school's Internet pages*
- a "snap"!
We are delivering this course with
a variety of online teaching tools including: Web pages
with traditional text instructions, "screen shot" illustrations and RealPlayer (RealAudio/RealVideo) movie files.
Some of these files will require the use of special "plug-in"
applications to view and/or hear their content. If you are
accessing from a PISD workstation you will already have these
plug-ins loaded.
Preparing for the media files
This section will help you prepare your
browser for the teaching tools used throught the course.
- If you are accessing this file through a modem
(from home) you should expect it take a little time to "download"
the file. If a dialogue box pops up asking you whether
to "view/open" the file or "save file to disk", select the "view/open"
file choice. Remember to have speakers or headphones attached
to your computer and the volume adjusted. The "RealPlayer"
window will open and float on top (in front) of your browser
window. It has "play" and "stop" buttons, as well as a volume
control slider and settings available for changing the viewing
size of the video. When you are finished with the RealPlayer
just click anywhere back on the browser's window to activate
it and continue with the web page you were on last.
Click on
"camera
basics" to try it and to check. This will open a 2
1/2 minute movie about the mavica.
When you are ready to begin the
course click "Next" below to move to the first lesson "Camera
Basics".
*Reminder: Remember, before
any PISD student's name, picture, voice or verbal statement, or
work, can be used on a school's Internet
page(s), the PISD Publications, Video, Internet Consent
and Release Agreement must be signed by their parent/guardian
and be on file at the campus. This form is available from
the Instructional Technology Department and is also available
at: http://k-12.pisd.edu/techs/release.htm
