This
lesson will provide tips on managing your digital image files.
Naming
and Saving Your Image Files
Follow
these steps to name, save, and manage your image files.
-
There
will be two file types for each picture you have taken.
One has the file extension .411 and one has the extension
.jpg The .jpg files are the images.
The .411 files are no longer needed or used after the disk
leaves the camera. You may ignore or delete these .411
files as you wish.
-
The
Sony Mavica names the image files Mvc-001f, 002s, etc.
If you would like to move your image files to another drive
it is recommended that you first create a folder for each
floppy disk of images that you have taken. It is helpful
to name this folder something that reminds you of what the
images are from.
Storing/copying your image disks to separate folders also
prevents the possibility of “overwriting” (erasing) other
image files, since each disk from the camera has a Mvd-001,
002 etc., until the files have been renamed.
- Once
you have highlighted (selected) one of the "mvc" files
to open, then double-click or click the open button to view
the image.
-
To
Rename your image file, go to File>Save As. You may rename
each image file while in the "Save As" window. Name
your file (image) something to help you identify it later.
keep the file name short and do not use spaces or capital
letters. Remember to leave the file extension “.jpg”
You will find more file management details in the "image
editing basics" tutorial.
