Speakers of
Other Languages
The English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) program is growing rapidly. We have 65 students who speak 21 different languages. The ESOL Program is an intensive program designed to develop proficiency on listening, speaking, reading, and writing in the English language. The ESOL curriculum follows the essential elements recommended by the state. In addition to the acquisition of listening, speaking, and literacy skills in English, the program assists the students in adapting to a new culture. At Aldridge, the ESOL program has students whose native languages are Arabic, Bengali, Chinese, Farsi, French, Hindi, Kannada, Korean, Kurdish, Krio, Lao, Marathi, Moldavian, Nepal, Persian, Russian, Spanish, Thai, Twi, Urdu, and Vietnamese. This mix of different cultures helps create a diverse and unique program for our school. Mrs.Gilbert, Mrs.Medlen, and Mrs.Watson are excited about students who are working hard to learn and improve their English. |
