What
is PACE?
PACE
(Plano's Academic and Creative Education) is PISD's program for the
academically gifted and talented students in Grades K-12. Its
emphasis is on general intellectual ability.
Who
is served by PACE?
Identification of students is conducted not to label students but
to determine which students require program alterations because of
their unique educational needs.
How
is a student selected for services?
Students are identified by both quantitative and qualitative measures.
Selection decisions are based on multiple criteria: parent
survey, teacher rating scale, aptitude test, achievement test scores,
and a student product.
How is a student referred?
Parents, teachers, professional school staff, and students may refer
those who exhibit gifted characteristics. Persons making nominations
must complete the Referral Form and submit it to Aldridge's Gifted
Specialist, Nancy Harrison.
If you are interested in referring your child for the gifted program,
please see the grade level PACE team teacher or Nancy Harrison for
a referral packet. Referred
students will be assessed at the home campus.
