The Bowman Middle School Band program is one part of the Plano East Cluster Band Program (Bowman Middle School, Williams High School, and Plano East Senior
High School). All skills and knowledge gained from participation in our band program are continued
and expanded upon in the high school bands. Students who participate in our program not only enjoy
their time with us, but also can look forward to many exciting years in a nationally recognized
(by the American School Band Directors Association) band cluster program.
Achievements
Students have steadily increased their participation in the Plano All-City Band. This past year, our students from the Bowman Band Program were among the top players in their sections
(first in oboe, third in bassoon, and fourth in percussion)!
Participation in the Solo and Ensemble contest has steadily increased over the years with many
students earning superior ratings for their performances. Several soloists and ensembles
were further honored by being distinguished as "exemplary" musicians. Approximately 70 students
earned superior ratings and 12 earned exemplary recognition.
Our participation in the UIL Concert and Sight Reading Contest in past years has yielded
excellent ratings in both the Concert portion and the Sight-reading portion of the contest.
