THEATRE ARTS
Theatre Arts I and
II are offered here at Bowman Middle
School. We study the history of theatre, pantomime,
improvisational acting, and duet acting. Students also are
given the opportunity to provide technical support to
various school functions from setting up for Mr. Keith
Davis, motivational speaker, to building sets for the school
plays. Theatre students are also encouraged to attend
theatrical events throughout the year as well as compete in
the acting events in speech tournaments hosted
throughout the year. Students can compete in duet acting,
group improvisation, and dramatic and humorous interpretation. |

SPEECH
Speech I is a public
speaking class where students learn the importance of good communication
skills and how effective listening plays a key role in their success.
Students also learn how to research, write, and give various speeches
such as informative speeches, demonstrative speeches, special occassion
speeches, and
persuasive speeches. Students are also encouraged to compete in
the speaking events in speech tournament shosted throughout the
year. Events range from debate
and extemporaneous speaking to original oratory and impromptu speaking.
