Technology Education

Technology Education is a one semester course that can be taken for a total of two semesters during the time the student is in the seventh and eighth grade. During the semester, students will choose seven different modules of study. The students will rotate every ten days to a different module, working with a new partner with each rotation. If the students elects to take the course for a second semester, he or she may not repeat modules taken during the first time they were in Technology Education but must choose modules not previously taken.

AVIATION

Aviation technology is the
study of the four forces of flight which affect aircraft. In this module, students will study flight technology through the construction of paper and balsa wood airplanes. Students will also experience a flight simulator similar to ones to train real pilots.

AEROSPACE
students will study the history of rockets, fly a space shuttle simulation and build and fly a working model rocket. The students may
also design a model of a space station.

ROBOTICS
This is the study of applications and
theories of automation related to robots.
Students will learn how to manipulate and
program a robot which has many of the
characteristics of industrial robots used
in manufacturing.

STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING
Students will learn the principles of
structural engineering. They will apply
these principles to build a model of a
bridge. Students will also use the
computer programs to design and test
sample bridges. Students will also learn
measurement .

AERODYNAMICS
This module will orient students to the effects of air on stationary and mobile objects as well as the effects that various shapes and sizes of objects have on air. After this module, students will be familiar with the terminology and principles of fluid dynamics.

AUDIO BROADCASTING
In this module the student will learn the principles of radio broadcasting, and how to operate radio equipment. The students will apply their learning to write produce and record a news scrip and commercials for a radio program.

LASER AND FIBER OPTICS

This module will allow the students to obtain the
knowledge concerning the history of lasers and fiber optics, safety in using lasers, laser lassification, how lasers and fiber optic cables operate, and the practical use of both.
