Mission:
The Carpenter ESL Department believes that all culturally and linguistically diverse students should have access to the highest quality education available so that our students are vastly prepared to face the challenges of today’s changing world.
Goals:
The goal of our ESL department is to offer students a quality education that enhances their skills both linguistically and academically. We will achieve this goal by:
• Improving oral fluency.
• Transferring skills and concepts into English.
• Attaining high levels of academic achievement by building upon student’s background knowledge.
• Offering a supportive and nurturing environment to assist our students in all academic areas.
About:
Our ESL department offers a variety of classes to best fit the needs of our individual students. Our teachers give the students learning experiences that help them to acclimate to a new culture while still embracing each student’s individuality and native culture.
Newsflash:
1st ever Carpenter ESL field trip occurred on November 14th. All ESL students and teachers packed up for the day and headed downtown to the Dallas World Aquarium. While we were at the Aquarium, students participated in a scavenger hunt which enhanced learning opportunities. After our hunt, we took our hungry selves to the Spaghetti Warehouse for an Italian feast! A great time was had by all!
Another 1st for our ESL department is the Cultural Cuisine Cookbook coming to a school near you! Our students and their families have been working hard to compile a list of their favorite recipes to share with all of us! The Cultural Cuisine Cookbook is now on sale for $15 per book.
