Tennis

Haggard Tennis welcomes all 7th and 8th grade boys and girls to participate in the tennis program. We are the only team sport that has two competitive seasons, fall and spring.

Try outs are held after school in August and again in February. All students will be provided an equal opportunity to demonstrate their stroke skills and game play strategies.
All students need a pair of red, blue, white or black athletic shorts (tennis) with pockets, tennis shoes, tennis racket and a white T-shirt or Haggard spirit T-shirt. Girls may wear the traditional tennis skirt in either blue, red, black or white.

Students will be evaluated using two categories:
Objectively: The students will be required to exhibit fundamental tennis skills ranging from movement, agility, forehand, backhand, volley, serve and challenge matches.
Subjectively: The coach will evaluate the students in areas such as academics, teamwork, leadership, citizenship, and attitude.

The top eight to ten girls and boys will make the Haggard Middle School Tennis Team.

Tuesday - Thursday, May 6 - 8, City Tournament - TBA

Matches @ 5:30 p.m. (earlier by mutual consent & transportation permitting.)
